Marielle V Jakobsons is a composer and intermedia artist from Oakland, USA. As a solo artist, and as Date Palms, Myrmyr, and other collaborations she’s released recordings with Thrill Jockey, Students of Decay, Root Strata, Mexican Summer, and Important Records. Her latest solo record “Star Core” (2016, Thrill Jockey), revolves around minimalist synthesizer layers with melodic violin, flute, and vocals over elongated bass grooves. Marielle builds installations and instruments which bring focus to visceral experience of sound and light, most recently with her “Macro-Cymatic Visual Music Instrument.”
